Welcome to Calvary Memorial Church, located at the corner of 18th Street and Birch in Gering.  Our church sits four blocks south of Geil Elementary School.

Worship Service

Our Sunday morning begins at 8:30 with a worship service that lasts 60-70 minutes.  While you are waiting for the service to begin, please take a few moments to fill out the connection card located in your bulletin.  The praise and worship band will begin the service with a mixture of contemporary and traditional music.  At the end of the worship time, children age 3 to 2nd grade will be dismissed to go to the basement for Children’s Church.  Once downstairs, these kids are able to learn about God and his Word in an age appropriate format.  Children’s Church is completely optional, and children are also welcome to remain upstairs in the church service.  The remaining 30 minutes of the service are devoted to the message of the day, which is taken directly from God’s Word.   Children up to age 3 are welcome in the staffed nursery found just off the gym anytime during the worship service.  

Sunday School

Immediately following the first service, at 9:45 we begin 45 minutes of Sunday School.  Adults can choose from several classes that study a variety of relevant topics.  Check out the Bible Studies Page for a complete list of classes offered.  Junior High and High School students can enjoy an exciting hour in the Loft, the upstairs youth room full of technology, fun, and sound Biblical teaching.  The basement of the church is the place for children age 3 to 5th grade, where they are able to learn truth about God in several age-based Sunday School classrooms.  A staffed nursery is also available at this time for infants up to age 3.    

Worship Service

The second worship service begins at 10:45 and lasts 60-70 minutes.  This service is identical to the first service earlier in the morning.  At the end of the worship time, children age 3 to 2nd grade will be dismissed to go to the basement for Children’s Church.  Once downstairs, these kids are able to learn about God and his Word in an age appropriate format.  Children’s Church is completely optional, and children are also welcome to remain upstairs in the church service.  Children up to age 3 are welcome in the staffed nursery anytime during this worship service as well. 

Attire

Please come to Calvary as you are.  On any given Sunday, you will find people dressed in jeans, dresses, suits, and everything in between. 

Communion

Communion is celebrated the first Sunday of every month.  The elements (crackers and juice) are passed through the congregation.  Anyone who has accepted Christ as his or her personal savior is welcome to participate.  Once all have been served, the congregation eats the crackers and drinks the juice together. 

Sunday Evenings  

Check Point, the high school youth group, meets on Sunday evenings from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm in the Loft.  

Wednesday Evenings

Wednesday evenings are family night at Calvary.  During the school year, supper is served for the whole family at 5:30 pm. After that, children age four through fifth grade are able to sing songs, play games, and explore Bible stories at Calvary Kids from 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm.  During this time, parents are encouraged to stay for a Bible Study. Level Up is a Wednesday night youth group available for junior high students that meets year-round.
