Meet the Team
Gary Hashley, Senior Pastor
Never intending to be a pastor, Gary enrolled in the Missionary Aviation program at the Grand Rapids School of the Bible and Music. After three semesters and earning his Private Pilot’s License, God made it plain He had something else in mind other than flying on the mission field. Gary and Rachel married in 1977 and joined the Rural Bible Mission where they ministered to boys and girls in Michigan. Gary was called to pastor his first church in 1982 and that was the beginning of a wonderful adventure that led them here in January of 2007. Gary and Rachel have three grown children, two great sons-in-law and nine amazing grandchildren. They love hiking, biking and flying together.
Joe Patterson, Student Ministries Pastor
Joe has been working with Calvary's High School and Jr High students since he was called to Calvary as an intern in 2011, the same year he and his wife Crystal moved to Gering. In 2012 he officially joined the team as Calvary's youth pastor. He works specifically with students 6th-12th grades but is also very involved with the 10:25 Collective, the church's young adult ministry, Calvary's worship team, and basically anything that involves video or media. He loves camping and the outdoors, archery, cooking, spending time with people, and his dog, Griffin.
Rick and Marie Parker, Children's Ministry Directors
Rick and Marie Parker have worked with kids most of their lives. They love and enjoy kids. They have seen hundreds of kids come to know Jesus as their Savior and learn to walk in their Christian faith. Rick and Marie Parker have been missionaries with "In Faith" for the past 24 years. In that capacity they have directed Camp Rock, pastored several country churches and have directed numerous Vacation Bible Schools and Kid's Klubs in the panhandle of Nebraska. Rick went to Bible College at Trinity Western University and Asbury College. Marie is an RN and is the school nurse at Banner County School. Rick is a driver and trainer for First Student and is a contractor. Rick and Marie have four grown children and two grand children.
Zen and LouAnn Voohries, Senior's Ministry Directors
Zen and LouAnn have four children and five grandchildren and have been serving the Lord together for 22 years. While living in California, Zen spent several years as an associate Pastor until he felt the Lord's call to start a new church. For eight years he shared the love of Christ with people battling drug and alcohol addictions in a poverty-stricken area in California. Ten years ago Zen and LouAnn moved to Scottsbluff where they began a new ministry serving seniors. During the past ten years they have gathered people together to grow in Christ through mission trips, Bible Studies, fun and fellowship. They also have had a fruitful outreach at Heritage Estates for several years.

Andy Stobel, Life Group Director
Andy grew up at Calvary and learned early on the importance of serving; with encouragement from Pastor Charlie Hornick and Nancy Kihlthau, he began leading the congregational singing and directing the church choir while he was in high school. After attending the University of Nebraska-Kearney, he returned to Gering to teach German and English at Gering High School. Today, Andy is thrilled by the opportunity to raise his kids in his home church, where he is a worship team leader, choir director, and adult LifeGroup teacher.
Mindy Joekel, Women's Ministry Director
Being part of the Women's Ministry activities at Calvary Memorial Church has always been a priority for Mindy. So when the opportunity came up, she felt called to become the director.
